Apprenticeship Terms and Conditions

SBATC agreed new rates of pay for registered construction apprentices in Scotland effective from Monday 24 June 2019.

The provisions details below provide a brief summary of the terms and conditions which are applicable to SBATC registered apprentices;   

30 days holiday per year consisting of 8 days public holiday and 22 days annual leave per year.

39 hour basis working week, consisting of 8 working hours Mondays to Thursdays and 7 working hours on Fridays.  

Overtime premium rates of pay should be calculated as follows:

  • Monday to Friday – the first four hours after the completion of normal working hours shall be paid at the rate of time and a half, thereafter double time.

  • Saturday – the first four hours shall be paid at the rate of time and a half, thereafter double time.

  • Sunday – all hours at the rate of double time.

21 week probationary period from the date of registration in which the apprentice can be dismissed with one week's notice following an appropriate procedure.

Following the completion of the probationary period, apprentices are entitled to 4 weeks notice of termination.
